- Connect the Chromecast device to your TV:
- Plug the Chromecast device into your TV’s HDMI port.
- Connect the USB power cable to your Chromecast device.
- To get the Chromecast device powered on, you can do one of the following:
- Plug the other end of the USB power cable into an available USB port on your TV.
- Plug the other end of the USB power cable into the included power adapter which you will then plug into a power outlet. (Note: Only use the provided AC adapter.)
- Make sure the Chromecast App is installed on your phone. To install:
- Tap the App Store icon on your device’s home screen.
- Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass) at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap the search bar on the uppermost part of your screen, and then type in “Chromecast”.
- Select “Chromecast”.
- Tap “Get” and then tap “Install”. Please put in your password for iTunes, if prompted. (Note: If you’ve previously uninstalled the HOOQ app, tap the icon that looks like a cloud with an arrow pointing down so that the app will be reinstalled.)
- On your home screen, you’ll see the Chromecast icon. You’ll know that it’s completely installed when you can’t see a translucent circle on top of the Chromecast icon.
- Set up Chromecast. Here’s how:
- Open the Chromecast app (you may see it as the Google Cast app when it’s installed).
- Tap “ACCEPT” to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- If you're not signed in to a Google account, tap “SIGN IN” to personalize your features for a better Google Cast experience.
- Then tap “Allow Email Notifications” for tips & tricks, offers, and more sent straight to your email.
- Tap “CONTINUE”.
- Touch: “DEVICES” > “Add New Device” > “OK”.
- Choose the Chromecast device that you want to set up.
- Touch your iPhone’s Home button > Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device. Look for something like ChromecastXXXX.
- Go back to your device’s home screen and then open the Google Cast app. Your device should now be detected.
- Touch Next.
- The code on your phone should match the code on your TV. Touch I See the Code.
- Select your region. Touch Next.
- Optional: Change the name of your Chromecast to something distinct by deleting the current name and typing in a new name. Note: Guest mode is enabled by default. If you don't want to enable guest mode, touch the check mark. Touch Set Name.
- You will be asked to connect your Chromecast device to your Wi-Fi network at home. Select the name of your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Touch Set Up.
- If your Chromecast needs an update, it will automatically update at this time and will let you know when the update is complete.
- After the update is complete, you are ready to cast.
- Tap the icon for the HOOQ app and your device will open the HOOQ app.
- Select the video that you’d like to stream and cast to your TV. Click here for the steps on how to search for a video or browse the “All TV” and/or “All Movies” library.
- Once you’re in the movie or TV show information page, tap the Cast icon on the right hand corner.
- Select your Chromecast device to start casting. (Note: Select “Cancel” if you don’t want to cast the video that you selected.)
- You can start watching the video using your TV.
- Your phone will serve as a remote control to increase decrease volume.
- You can pause and stop the video and select other videos to play within the same app.
- You may still use your mobile device or browse using your mobile while connected to Chromecast and casting.
